“You have to trust the words that people say when they are out of control,
because those are the words that they hold deep within their soul.
They don’t say them when everything is good,
but they will say them when they are angry.
You have to trust those words that come out because they linger within them,
and you can’t see:
the hate that they secretly carry for you,
or the anger that they have within themselves.
Sometimes you meet someone who is just a shell,
hoping not to be cracked and expose the truth.
You go on through the years and you have no clue.
That this wonderful person that you have been doing everything for
is secretly hating on you, secretly sore
on the inside hating, waiting:
for your demise.
You cannot trust a pretty face just because its in the right place at the right time.
You have to find that place and open their mind.
Put them through a test, watch them confess
how they really feel
when they can’t hold it in their chest.
Can you accept that side of that person?
Or do you think that person is out here cursin’ your name
when your not looking, when your not thinking, when your not expecting?
When you face tough times are they going to hold you UP ?
Or are they just going to mention:
all the things that you’ve done, all the flaws that you have, all the problems that you have faced?
Can their love for you over power their secret hate ?
Or will they just replace you with another case?
Another clueless person, another unexpecting soul
they will hold on to them as long as its easy,
as long as it appears as gold.
You don’t need that shell of a friend, or that shell of a lover.
That’s why you have to test the water,
that they walk on.
See if they will turn to you when they are drowning,
or if they look for someone else to hold on.
Our realest friendships have survived the fire,
Our realest bonds have known that it requires
kindness and consideration to keep the love alive.
Don’t ever confuse a simple lesson, with the real prize. ”
